Sustainable tree & chainsaw work

Tree & Chainsaw work for Hickory Glen and Laurel Brook neighborhoods
Woodstock/Hickory Flat, GA 30188

My name is Hugh Kelly and I live on Stoney Creek Rd. in the Hickory Glen neighborhood. I have a full-time professional job during the weekdays, but as a lover of trees, forests, and gardens, I enjoy doing chainsaw and tree work and sustainable landscaping on weekends. By only working for my neighbors in the Hickory Glen and Laurel Brook neighborhoods, I can keep my prices low, build relationships, enrich the local ecosystems, and limit energy waste.

Things I do

  • Felling medium & small trees that are not in danger of damaging home, vehicles, outbuildings or electrical lines

  • Cutting fallen trees & limbs and transporting them a local place to let them decompose back into the forest (e.g. neighboring wooded area)

    • I can also remove the trunk wood and branches from your property, but this is more costly

  • Moving medium and large logs that cannot be moved easily

  • Naturally-designed garden beds using free materials, such as logs, already located on your property

  • Tree identification and tree management strategies, such as allowing smaller oak and hickory trees to grow under faster-growing species like tulip poplars or sweetgums. Eventually, the faster-growing species is removed as the oak or hickory occupies the forest canopy.

  • Fruit and nut tree planting based on permaculture principles

  • Pruning & hedge trimming

Things I don’t do

  • Work on large trees near structures, vehicles, or power lines, as I am not a professional arborist.

Pricing

My pricing is flexible and based on the job. If you call or email me, I can come by your property in person and we can discuss the job. I strive to beat the prices of professional arborists and landscapers by taking small and medium-sized, low-risk jobs where the waste wood can be transported to a local forested area for natural decomposition and return to the ecosystem.
